Kathleen Mcdonald Kathleen McDonald, President & CEO

Prior to founding Career Investments LLC, Kathleen McDonald was Vice President of Professional Placement for Personnel Management, Inc. (PMI), a $130M light industrial staffing firm with over 60 US branch locations. Kathleen joined PMI in January 1997 as Director of Recruiting. During her eleven-year tenure there, she served in several roles. Kathleen led corporate merger and acquisition activity and managed PMI's National Recruiting & Marketing Division in addition to the Professional & Executive Placement Division. Before joining PMI, Kathleen was Program Coordinator for the Indiana University Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation’s Growth 100 program, part of the Kelley School of Business. She has also served as Executive Director of the Huntingburg, Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Kathleen earned her B.S. in Public Affairs from Indiana University, School of Public and Environmental Affairs and MBA from the University of Chicago. She has served in the role of President for Indy Reads Board of Directors and the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business Alumni Club of Indianapolis. She is a Graduate of the Stanley K. Lacy Executive Leadership Series Class XXXI. She has also recently served as a presenter for the Lacy Leadership Association, IndyHub, International Institute of Business Analysts and the Business and Professional Exchange to discuss best practices and trends in career development.

 

Jim McKean James D. McKean, Partner

Before joining CI, Jim built a career as an analyst and strategist consulting with business executives. For seven years as owner and principal of McKean and Company, he provided executive leadership in strategy, technology and business management to mid-size entrepreneurial businesses throughout Indiana. One of his major clients, Pratt Corporation, hired him to lead an 11-person department with a $1.3 million budget. Part of his responsibilities at Pratt were to architect and manage the development of five major customer-facing applications to strengthen ties with new and existing customers. As Manager of Research, Jim managed the consulting services of IU’s Johnson Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation where he worked with entrepreneurial businesses on projects including process analysis, feasibility studies, market research and organizational development work, and he interviewed CEOs for inclusion in the Center’s prestigious Growth 100 Program. Jim earned his BA in English and Religious Studies from Indiana University, and later, his MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana, graduating in the top ten percent. He has completed numerous professional development experiences, including the Four Disciples of Execution training with Franklin Covey, Crucial Conversations training, Six Sigma Black Belt training from Motorola University, and Leadership Bloomington/Monroe County. He served on the Boards of Directors for the Phoenix Theater and Bloomington Area Birth Services, and was a consultant to the board of Pleasant Run Children’s Home.
